Rod’s Angry Jerky started a few years ago. The taste of store bought jerky just wasn’t cutting it. So with some encouragement from his family, Rod started experimenting with different flavors and techniques as a hobby. Every batch of hand sliced jerky that Rod made just got him closer and closer to the Angry recipe you taste today. In sharing with friends, family, and colleagues, the overwhelming reviews from all made it an easy decision to share it with the world! On January 8/2019, the Rod’s Angry Jerky brand was launched. This jerky is distributed under the same name of Rod’s Angry Jerky, and they are based out of Milford, New Jersey.
Ingredients: Beef, Distilled White Vinegar, Wheat, Salt, Sugar, Molasses, Sodium Benzoate, Soybean, Onion, Anchovies, Peppers [Arbol & Piquin], Spices, Garlic, Paprika, Citric Acid, Natural Hickory Flavor, Paprika, Caramel Color, Xanthan Gum, Natural Flavor. Allergen Warnings: Soy, Wheat
The beef used is guaranteed to have been raised ethically, meaning not administered growth hormones or additional antibiotics. This beef is also guaranteed to have at least partial free range to roam about as nature intended. As a result, the highest ingredient rating possible is Very Good (9/10).
There are some healthy ingredients added such as onion, anchovies, garlic, chili peppers, lime zest, and cloves. The heat is achieved from chili peppers and chili pepper extract, where hot peppers are healthy if eaten in moderation.
There is no nutrition facts table. As a result, the exact sugar and salt levels are unknown.
This jerky does not qualify to have no sodium nitrite, as cure is a listed ingredient that implies sodium nitrite mixed with salt to lose a rating. Admirably, this jerky does qualify to have no MSG added.

When I open the bag, I smell natural beef, which is a good thing. This is not a large portion of jerky to review. The pieces are medium in size, and they are sliced to a medium thickness. Their is no oily residue left on your fingers.
The first tastes I encounter are salt, next to no sweet, garlic, onion, a plethora of natural beef, and, to my surprise and delight, I am actually tasting something similar to a spicy taco. The spice is just right, it is greatly enhancing the taco flavor, bringing it over the edge for me, not unlike Kawhi Leonard’s buzzer-beater in game 7 against the 76ers. Swoosh, a legend arrives, and it is Rod’s Angry Jerky Angry Taco Beef Jerky.
Mark was not as enthusiastic with the taco flavor with this to say: “The three experienced jerky tasters appreciated this flavor more than the three less experienced jerky tasters. Paul and Stephane were at Excellent (10/10) taste ratings, while I am at a Good (8/10) taste rating. Both Stephane and I had trouble identifying the ‘taco’ aspect of this flavor. Nolan who was at an Average (5/10) taste rating said ‘All I can taste is salt and vinegar’, while Stephane was smitten with the anchovy flavor. For the record, Mark was at an 8 taste rating, and Sid at a 7.”
This silver resealable plastic bag has a label affixed, both on the front and back. There is drawing on the front of Angry Rod.
A slogan printed on this bag is “Taste The Anger!!”. The only fact printed on this bag is “Gluten-Free”.
Some bag categories missing are the jerky weight not stated in grams, a USDA stamp, barcode, allergen alerts, and a nutrition facts table. To the credit of Rod’s Angry Jerky, a phone number is provided for customer inquiries.
